Padova Urbs Picta
Padova Urbs Picta, with 'The frescoed cycles of the 14th century', has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Padua proposed for registration on the UNESCO World Heritage List a 'serial site' that includes all the precious frescoed cycles of the fourteenth century preserved in eight buildings and monumental complexes of the city: the Scrovegni Chapel, the Church of Saints Philip and James at the Eremitani, the Palazzo della Ragione, the Chapel of the Carrarese Palace, the Baptistery of the Cathedral, the Basilica and the Convent of Saint Anthony, the Oratory of Saint George and the Oratory of Saint Michael.
The walls of these places, during the fourteenth century, were frescoed by some of the most extraordinary artists of the time: Giotto, who created with the frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel his absolute masterpiece, Guariento di Arpo, Giusto de 'Menabuoi, Altichiero da Zevio, Jacopo Avanzi and Jacopo from Verona.
